Empathy in Problem Solving
Our 101 Series is a beginner style design demonstration. No doodads are made, only learning.
Whether you’re hosting an event or working on a tactile or strategic project, design begins before arriving at an event or before you shake a hand and introduce yourself. Join us to find out how empathy is significant to the design thinking process. We welcome designer Verónica Ayala Flores along with Design Gym founder + head coach Erike H. De Veyra, Assoc. AIA, SEED.
101 Series: Learn and work through the design process with Head Coach and Founder Erike, and try out tools, sometimes alongside a guest designer or expert.
No doodads/pieces will be made; this is purely a session to understand the process and tools.
Registration includes designer(s) introductions, design thinking process, and live demonstration of tools alongside expert(s), and light refreshments.
OPEN TO ALL adult and youth designers.
Prior design experience is not required

DESIGN A DOODAD
A Design Gym series of hands-on workshops for all ages + experiences to learn about design foundation principles and demystify the design process in the disciplines of architecture, fashion, graphic + textile design, to name a few.
Flex your creativity with us!
Registration includes designer(s) introductions, instruction, materials, light refreshments AND skills/knowledge + a project to take home!
Workshops are scheduled on weeknight and weekend days/times at least twice a month.
OPEN TO ALL adult and youth designers.

Skill Swap Club
Skill Swap Club is a neighbor-to-neighbor exchange that reconnects people by sharing what we know.
This idea emerged from a Design Gym workshop during Philly Tech Week, where strangers from different backgrounds came together to solve everyday human problems. Facilitated by Chitsanzo Isaac, our group identified skill swapping as a response to isolation and lack of accessible support systems.

DESIGN CONCEPT: Where it Starts?
Our 101 Series is a beginner style design demonstration. No doodads are made, only learning.
Join us to work through the design process and understanding how designers base their design solution from a concept with head coach + founder Erike. We’ll do our best to understand how to get to a concept, how it develops, and try some sketching and exercise how to get to a concept on our own.
